Is it possible to balance economic development with environmental protection? What is the future for our cities? Can the wealth divide between rich and poor ever be adequately bridged? Does business success bring with it social responsibility? Are our educational models up to the challenges of the 21st Century?
These are just some of the questions addressed in an hour-long "Principal Voices" special programme to be aired on CNN.
Seeking to offer new perspectives on some of the major issues facing our world today, the programme takes us from clothing factories in China to diabetes clinics in Africa, from development projects on the Indian sub-continent to virtual models of the cities of the future, guided by some of the world's leading thinkers in their respective fields.
The "Principal Voices" include Noble prize-winning economist Amartya Sen, sustainable development expert Ashok Khosla, award-winning architect Zaha Hadid, industrialists Lars Rebien Sørensen and Leif Johansson, and education visionary Ken Robinson.
During the course of the programme they will offer insights into their own respective areas of operation, and share their thoughts both on the challenges facing Mankind today, and on ways of meeting those challenges. As with the wider Principal Voices project of which it is a part, the programme's aim is to provoke thought and stimulate discussion at a time of rapid global change.
It can be seen on CNN on the following dates and at the following times.
