Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo
Dr. Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo is the Minister of the Environment for Mexico, D.F. responsible for environmental initiatives and a major proponent of clean, sustainable transportation in Mexico. She has been advisor of the Mexican National Commission for Energy Savings, the Mexican National Electric Utility, and of the Greenhouse gas mitigation plans for Mexico and Honduras. She was revisor of the Third Assessment Report of the IPCC, and consultant of the United Nations for the World Energy Assessment in Energy and Sustainable Development in Latin America. In 2000 she became a regular member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences. Sheinbaum has a Ph.D. in energy engineering from UNAM. She developed most of her work for her doctoral thesis at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley. Her master's degree in energy engineering and her bachelor's degree in physics are from UNAM.
