Eric Kim

A hugely respected businessman and marketing guru, Eric Kim is vice-president of Intel Corporation, and director of Intel's Sales and Marketing Group.

Born in Korea, he moved to the U.S. with his family at the age of 12. He gained a Bachelor's degree in physics at Harvey Mudd College, a Master's in engineering from UCLA and an M.B.A. from Harvard.

Although he has worked as a executive with a variety of companies - including General Manager at Lotus Development Corporation, CEO of Pilot Software, CTO of Dun & Bradstreet and as a Venture Capitalist at Spencer Trask Software Group - it was in his role as executive vice-president and head of global marketing at Samsung Electronics that he really came to public notice.

Under his direction the Samsung brand-image was revolutionized, with exciting, innovative advertising campaigns and sponsorship deals dramatically altering popular perceptions of the company and its products. The result was a doubling of Samsung's business in the U.S.

"I convinced the company we had to have a single message," says Kim. "We were the new kids on the block and the block was noisy."

He remained with Samsung until November 2004 when he joined Intel Corporation with a brief to 'put life back' into the brand and convey a 'more consumer-centric message' in its marketing and advertising.

"The Intel brand must consistently evolve in order to address new market opportunities," said Kim. "As Intel increases its focus on delivering technology in a way that benefits people in their daily lives through our approach to platforms, the new global agency will play a strategic role in helping to communicate the essence of the Intel brand and the company's technology benefits in a compelling way."

He is married with two children.
